My Precious: Engagement Rings

Engagement rings are meant to last forever. No wonder engagement rings often come with the eye-popping diamonds on top of it. The diamond is, of course, not the only thing that should be considered when picking an engagement ring. Remember that when people realize a girl is engaged, they automatically look for her hand and excitedly look at the symbol of engagement.  This means that people would want to look at it almost all the time, therefore, it should be something good to look at. Some men are able to find their “perfect” engagement ring on their own, as long as they have an idea of what their soon-to-be fiancées like. But for a few that are overwhelmed by the wide array of choices, both on design and price, it is suggested that they do a “scouting” first, which can be through the internet (because most reputable jewellers have websites) or by going window shopping.  It is never embarrassing to ask for help for this kind of situation. Classic engagement rings are simple yet elegant. They may have less intricate designs than a design engagement ring but it does not mean the quality is sacrificed. The simplicity of classic engagement rings enhances the wearer, or accentuates the dress she is wearing perhaps. Simply put, the attention is not grabbed by the subtleness of the ring. The design engagement rings, however, are more complex, yet still pretty to look at. These designer pieces scream “come, look at me”. An example of a classic engagement ring would be a classic diamond engagement ring that usually has one stone. A design ring would be defined by a more intricate design on either the ring itself or on the precious stones. Tiffany engagement rings offer some modern and sophisticated designs on their rings and stones. Their stores also help with choosing a ring fit for a certain budget. Some men or couples opt for a more vintage look. Vintage engagement rings have existed for quite a while so one should keep in mind to check for the quality of the ring. Most rings would have diamonds but other softer stones can also be used. Emeralds and sapphires are soft stones and are easily cracked or damaged. Edwardian engagement rings from the 1920s were the popular sapphire-bearing rings. Antique engagement rings that are over 50 years old are also available. An example would be a classic Tiffany engagement ring with six-prong diamond solitaire introduced in 1886. These “old rings” are often set in yellow or rose gold around the 1830s, but in the start of the 1900s, platinum has been introduced. It pays off to always check for damages when dealing with antique and vintage engagement rings.

There may be a lot of choices when looking for an engagement ring.  The design and the price are major points to check when buying such precious endowment. If it is a surprise engagement, it is better to spend some time looking for the appropriate ring, but asking her to go with you and settle for the ting that she likes would not be so bad either.
